Siemens Enterprise Communications is to operate the Internet services of a hotel group for the first time as a service provider. 27 Mercure and Novotel hotels of the market-leading Accor hotel group in Germany have been equipped with VDSL solutions (Very Highspeed Digital Subscriber Line) from SMC Networks. Moreover, a further 28 hotels have been provided with high-speed Internet access in the guest rooms using conventional Cat.5/Cat.3 technology. This means that hotel guests have access to a high-speed connection to the Internet (HSIA) from their room and can use the phone at the same time. The usage fees go to Siemens Enterprise Communications. The market leader for enterprise communications solutions in Germany acts as a project developer, investor and operator. The operator contract with Accor was concluded initially as a pilot project over a five-year period.
