Commerzbank Contracts Siemens Enterprise Communications to Provide Managed Services, Continuing the Long-standing Collaboration between the Two Companies

Commerzbank has chosen Siemens Enterprise Communications’ Managed Services PortPrice Model for its global communications infrastructure. Under this service model, Siemens Enterprise Communications operates the IP- and software-based communication system OpenScape UC Server, to provide phone connectivity for employees at Germany’s second-largest bank.

“Siemens Enterprise Communications has been a reliable partner for 20 years now, which is why we’ve decided to continue working with SEN for the next five-and-a-half years,” says Roland Schneider, Principal Project Manger Infrastructure at Commerzbank. “Besides the technical performance of SEN’s solution, what convinced us was its ability to handle maintenance centrally for our branches all over the world.”

“This major contract from Commerzbank is a great demonstration of trust,” says Stefan Herrlich, Senior Vice President Sales Global Accounts at Siemens Enterprise Communications. “It shows us that we’re on the right track with offerings like our global Managed Services.”

The technology used by Commerzbank comprises an OpenScape UC server, a SIP-based software server for future activation of additional unified communications functionality, OpenScape Voice telephony software running on the UC server, and OpenStage 40 SIP phones. The bank is also using the one-number service provided by Siemens’ ComAssistant V2.0 software. This means every Commerzbank employee has just one number on which they can be reached. Even employees working out of a home office are connected to the central, global OpenScape UC server and are assigned an office number under which they can be reached at home. The contract additionally covers a full OpenScale services portfolio with traditional, Professional and Managed Services.

Managed Services offer SEN customers a way to migrate to unified communications cost-efficiently, flexibly and at their own pace. With this service model, the equipment remains the property of the manufacturer and is bought back by SEN. Customers use the software as needed, based on a per-user licensing model. This saves on purchase costs and enables customers to make decisions with greater flexibility. Another advantage is that customers are not subject to additional costs for maintenance and operation.
