Why is cloud better than my premises-based solution?

Quite simply, you get a highly reliable, low risk, low cost telephony solution without the costs and resource issues associated with buying, managing and upgrading the infrastructure yourself. 'Pay-as-you-go' pricing means you will only pay for what you use, which can reduce your call costs by up to 30%, and you can scale up and down as your business changes. Also, it's future-proofed so you'll always have access to the most up-to-date applications, technologies and services.

Is the cloud truly secure?

The short answer, with OpenScape Secure Cloud, is yes. It is a fully secure, robust enterprise-class communications infrastructure, with disaster recovery as standard. Services are hosted in world-class, redundant, and geographically separate data centers that are independently certified at the highest industry standard (Tier 4 TIA-942).

The OpenScape Secure Cloud Services network is permanently monitored, managed and controlled 24x7. We also employ a host of security controls such as firewalls and Session Border Controllers to protect against virtual attack; voice signalling and payload encryption prevent eavesdropping on live phone calls; and we routinely 'penetration test' all our services to ensure you are completely protected.

VoIP is internet based, so what happens if I lose data connection?

The answer is nothing - your communications will stay up! We have a unique solution called 'OpenScape Branch' which will automatically route your call back through the PSTN if your internet service goes down.

I have an effective relationship with my current systems integrator/consultant. Will moving to cloud mean we have to end the relationship?
It certainly doesn't have to. To ensure you always get expert advice and the best support we have a partner certification programme. Your existing reseller may already be one - take a look on our partner locator to find out. If they are not, why not suggest they join - it's a very straight forward process and it means you'll get the business benefits of OpenScape Secure Cloud from the partner you trust.
Do I have to move to the cloud in one go, and if I do, what about my old system?
Not at all. You should move to the cloud in stages - based on what's right for your business. But that doesn't mean that you have to wait for functionality or flexibility. OpenScape Secure Cloud Services can interoperate with and complement your existing hardware-based system. That means you can, for example, add user capacity, accommodate new mobile and home workers, and get new locations online fast. Your core network remains the same, you're adding functionality on top until you feel ready to take the next step. Essentially, we're providing risk-free sampling of new unified communications capabilities.
Why should I choose OpenScape Secure Cloud over other cloud communications solutions?

Many cloud deployments miss the critical unified communications capabilities, or are delivered by suppliers with limited enterprise-grade voice experience. We have both the breadth of UC functionality and the telecoms experience. Also, there are a lot of multiple application vendor cloud 'solutions' on the market. We believe this creates a non-cohesive portfolio of services that are incomplete and vary in quality - so users get a poor experience.

These patchwork portfolios also run into scalability problems which force users to switch to other solutions if they need to expand capacity. In short, many vendors provide something less than a full enterprise-grade solution. You should choose Siemens Enterprise Communications we deliver survivability, high availability and the complete enterprise-grade voice features and UC capabilities!

What are Siemens Enterprise Communications cloud credentials?

We are the leading provider of private cloud voice, unified communications, and collaboration solutions to large enterprises through our managed services arm. We currently manage over one million customers, three million managed ports and every day more than 200 million calls are initiated on our technology across the world.

We have consolidated our experience with large, private cloud deployments and created a secure and reliable public cloud offering. For the first time, small to medium-sized organisations can enjoy cost-reducing, advanced communications capabilities that were once the preserve of large enterprises.

I'm concerned cloud communications will place a huge administrative burden on my IT department. Will it?

No, it will do exactly the opposite. Because you won't have to worry about resourcing and supporting your voice and unified communications infrastructure (as we do it all), your IT department can concentrate on delivering value to the business in other ways.

I don't use the cloud for anything else - surely I am better off sticking with what I have now rather than changing the way we manage our IT just to get cheaper calls?
We'd argue that doing nothing is most likely costing you money today - either in supporting an aging telephony system, paying over the odds for voice and audio conferencing calls or because you can't support productivity gains across your business by enabling new, more mobile, working practices. We estimate you can reduce your call costs by up to 0% by immediately switching to OpenScape Secure Cloud, and that's just the start. See how much you could save here.
Uptime and security are real issues for us - is there an advantage to looking at a hybrid solution?

We wouldn't suggest you do…because you don't have to. We are very conscious of the need to secure data and eliminate downtime which is why OpenScape Secure Cloud is a fully secure, robust enterprise-class communications infrastructure, with disaster recovery as standard. And we offer a solution called 'OpenScape Branch' which will automatically route your calls back through your PSTN if your internet service goes down.

I really like my current systems integrator/consultant.

Is Siemens Enterprise Communications committed to the cloud for the long term?

Absolutely. We were doing cloud before it became 'cloud'. We are the number one communications managed services provider in the world, and support over a million users. Your own communications are run on a cloud model and we firmly believe the cloud is the future of communications provision.

Surely I can get all this by building my own private cloud?

Building your own private cloud is certainly an option, although because of our economies of scale it's likely to cost you more that if you work with us. And don't forget, you'll carry all the risk and cost of choosing, buying, integrating, managing and upgrading your infrastructure.
