Building your business case

What about our existing on premise infrastructure investments - do we just rip these out, because we'd need to add this into the cost equation?
We are strong advocates of doing what makes business sense. Because OpenScape Secure Cloud is an on-demand service, you can migrate new joiners to it as your business grows - and it will continue to integrate with your existing system. That means you can avoid making further investments into your existing system, and leave it alone until it makes financial sense for you to change completely (ie., when it starts costing you money).

Surely we'd need new handsets. How much will that cost?

We do support third party handsets and soft clients, however you may not enjoy all the functionality you would with a Siemens handset. We anticipate most users will make the small investment in new handsets to take advantage of the functionality. Your OpenScape Cloud Certified Partner will be able to discuss what makes the most sense for your business.

Do we really gain from day one?
The short answer is yes! Because OpenScape Secure Cloud can reduce existing telephony costs by up to 30%, and you no longer have the costs of managing new users or old infrastructure, payback starts from day one. Check out our OpenScape Cloud Savings Estimator for more.
What about guidance on our short and long term cloud-based unified communications strategy? Who can help?

We work closely with, and support, our expert reseller partners so that they are able to support you in developing your strategy. And we are always here to help too!

We have had negative experiences with Voice over IP calls before - call quality and availability has been poor. Will this be the case with OpenScape?

No. This is IP communications for business. We agree there are consumer-focused VoIP solutions out there that are not always reliable. However, OpenScape Cloud Services is supported by a global infrastructure dedicated to servicing the always - on needs of businesses. We have over a million large enterprise users already being supported by this infrastructure, which features traffic control, continuity tracing, branch trunking (that will route all calls to your PSTN if your internet connection goes down) and a host of the controls.
